Ground Cover

Introduction

The surface area that takes up the most scenery space on most model railroads is grass. The popular way of applying grass is using some form of static grass applicator. The static refers to static electricity used when applying the grass so that individual blades are charged and so repel each other hence standing up.

Right now most of these grasses are shades of green. An article in the September 2021 edition of the Model Railroader magazine shows how to dye the fibers to create other types of grass.
